There are many things to keep you busy in the Mývatn area, one of them of course is the Myvatn Nature Baths. Here are a few ideas.

Hiking

There are many great hiking trails in the Myvatn Area. There is a trail from Reykjahlíð leading up to the Krafla volcanic area and lots of trails around the Krafla area. There is also a trail from Reykjahlid to Hverfjall and from there to Dimmuborgir. And all around the area are various trails both short and long that provide great nature and sights. Biking

Biking around Myvatn is a great way to explore the area. You can cycle on the main road the whole way round the lake, be sure to be careful of traffic and keep to the sides of the road. You can rent bikes from Hike and Bike, Bjarg or Hlíð and you can also get guided biking trips in the area with Hike and Bike.

Horse riding

Exploring the nature in the Myvatn area on a horse can be amazing. Horse riding trips are available from Safari Hestar located on the south side of the lake and also from Saltvik located near Reykjahlíð.

Tours

There are a lot of tour operators who offer trips in the Myvatn area. Bus tours are available from Fjallasýn, Myvatn Tours and SBA Norðurleið. Super Jeep Tours are available from Fjallasýn, Geo Travel and Saga Travel.

Sightseeing Flights

Mýflug offers sightseeing flights around the great Mývatn area which offer amazing views.

Whale Watching

Not so far away from Mývatn is Húsavík, the whale watching capital in the world. There are two operators who provide whale watching there, Gentle Giants and North Sailing.

Golf

In Reykjahlíð there is a great 9 hole golf course nested in a very nice valley.

Museums

Sigurgeirs Bird Museum is a great place to visit and explore the amazing birdlife around Lake Myvatn. The Museum is located on the north side of Myvatn in the Neslond area.

Dining

There are a lot of great restaurants and cafe's around Myvatn who offer both traditional Icelandic and other cousine.
